If thereās one attraction that perfectly captures Singaporeās vision of the future, itās Gardens by the Bay. This sprawling waterfront garden combines futuristic architecture, towering vertical gardens, and climate-controlled conservatories into one of the most unique attractions in the world. From wandering among the iconic Supertrees and exploring the misty Cloud Forest filled with waterfalls and dinosaurs to admiring seasonal floral displays inside the Flower Dome, every corner feels like a blend of science fiction and nature. Whether youāre visiting during the day or returning at night for the spectacular Garden Rhapsody light show, Gardens by the Bay is a must-see destination that showcases why Singapore is known as the āCity in a Garden.ā
š” Travel Tips
- š³ Supertree Grove: Visit during both the day and night. During the day, you can fully appreciate the thousands of plants growing up their sides and the incredible engineering behind them. Return after sunset for a completely different experience when the trees illuminate and come alive during the free Garden Rhapsody light show.
- š¦ Cloud Forest First: Head to the Cloud Forest right at opening, especially when special exhibits like Jurassic World are running. The conservatory gets significantly busier as the day goes on, and arriving early means shorter waits for photos, fewer crowds on the walkways, and a more immersive experience.
- šø Flower Dome Timing: Seasonal displays like the cherry blossoms are incredibly popular and can draw large crowds. Visit early in the morning if possible and expect the most photogenic areas and floral sculptures to be the busiest parts of the conservatory.
- š Getting to Gardens by the Bay: From MBS, the elevated overpass route via Dragonfly Bridge offers beautiful views of the skyline and gardens, making it the most scenic option. If youāre short on time, avoiding the heat, or heading back after a long day, the underground route is faster and air-conditioned.
- š Supertree Observatory: The best views arenāt immediately obvious. Many visitors (like us) miss the upper observation deck because the signage is easy to overlook. Make sure you continue all the way to the top for the best views.
- š¢ Eating at the Gardens: Satay by the Bay is a great place to experience Singaporeās hawker culture without leaving the gardens. I loved the prawn satay from Geylang Serai Satay, but gluten-free options were unavailable. McDonaldās was surprisingly one of the easier gluten-free choices with fries or hot fudge sundae, though Singapore locations donāt offer ketchup or other GF sauces.
- ⨠Light Show Strategy: If youāre planning to see both major nighttime shows, start with the Spectra Light & Water Show at MBS and then walk to Gardens by the Bay for Garden Rhapsody. This route minimizes backtracking and lets you enjoy both experiences in a single evening.
- š Grab + Gardens: Gardens by the Bay has multiple entrances and pickup locations, which can make finding your driver confusing. Double-check your pickup point before requesting a ride. After Garden Rhapsody, demand spikes significantly, so expect longer waits and higher fares than usual.
- āļø Beat the Heat: Singaporeās heat and humidity are no joke. The air-conditioned conservatories provide a welcome break from the weather, so consider alternating between outdoor areas like Supertree Grove and indoor attractions like Cloud Forest and Flower Dome to avoid overheating.
š³ Supertrees
More than just giant metal trees, Singaporeās Supertrees are living vertical gardens designed to create their own microclimates by supporting thousands of plants and helping cool the surrounding environment. By day, theyāre an incredible feat of science and sustainability. By night, they transform into a glowing work of art during the Garden Rhapsody light show. Itās one of the most unique blends of nature, technology, and imagination weāve ever seen.

šæ OCBC Skyway
Take a 360° walk above the gardens on the OCBC Skyway, suspended between Singaporeās iconic Supertrees. With panoramic views of Marina Bay Sands, the skyline, and the futuristic gardens below, this was one of the best perspectives in the city.

⨠Garden Rhapsody at Supertree Grove
When the trees illuminate each evening during the Garden Rhapsody show, the scene feels every bit as enchanting as it did on screen.
š¦ Cloud Forest ā Jurassic World: The Experience
The Cloud Forest already feels like a setting straight out of a dinosaur movie, with its towering indoor waterfall, mist-covered mountain, and lush prehistoric-looking vegetation. The Jurassic World exhibit takes that atmosphere to the next level with life-sized dinosaurs and movie props hidden throughout the conservatory. Along the winding pathways, we encountered towering Brachiosaur, the mighty T-rex, playful Compies lurking in the foliage, a head-butting Stygimoloch, Dilophosaur that dramatically flared their neck frills and sprayed water at unsuspecting guests, and Velociraptors in cages with Blue trying to escape. You can even walk through the iconic Jurassic World gates, making it feel as though youāve stepped straight into Isla Nublar. For dinosaur fans, it was easily one of the most immersive and unexpectedly fun experiences in Singapore.Ā

šø Flower Dome
The Flower Dome offers a relaxing stroll through seasonal floral displays and plants from Mediterranean and semi-arid regions around the world. During our visit, the highlight was the cherry blossom display, with delicate pink blooms adding a touch of spring to Singapore. We also enjoyed the intricate wooden dragon and bird sculptures, which added a creative and whimsical element to the gardens.
⨠Spectra Light & Water Show
Set against the backdrop of MBS, Spectra combines dancing fountains, lasers, projections, and music into a free nighttime show that lights up Marina Bay. While the technology is impressive, what makes the experience special is the setting itself, with Singaporeās skyline reflecting across the water as the show unfolds. Arrive early if you want a good viewing spot.
š¢ Satay by the Bay
After a busy morning exploring Gardens by the Bay, Satay by the Bay was the perfect place to slow down and experience Singaporeās famous hawker food culture. We stopped at Geylang Serai Satay and ordered prawn, chicken and beef satay, freshly grilled over charcoal and served with a rich peanut dipping sauce. The chicken and beef were tender and flavorful, but the prawn satay was the standout for me, adding a delicious seafood twist to one of Singaporeās most iconic street foods.
