I made this Over the Hill cake for a 40th birthday winter snow theme.
I used one half of a Wilton sports ball for the top rounded section and an 8″ round double layer cake for the base. It was a carrot cake so I used cream cheese frosting, which is great for the snow texture. I molded the guy out of fondant using toothpicks to make sure all the body parts stayed attached to the snowball. I just printed a flag on paper with Happy Birthday on one side and Over the Hill on the other side. I taped it onto a skewer which was the perfect length to stick through the cake. I cheated and used the fake plastic trees you use for snow villages, but you could easily make these out of fondant/gum paste.
