Here’s a fly through of our enchanting Hogwarts Christmas!

12 Magical Christmas Trees

1. Golden Flights (Snitch and Flying Key) Tree

3D printed a Snitch at 270% scale for my Christmas tree topper and finished with lots of glitter.

3D printed a plethora of flying keys and hung them from the tree and ceiling. Even attached some to the pantry door to mimic the scene in the Sorcerer’s Stone where the keys slam into the door as Harry, Hermione and Ron escape.

Harry Potter Nutcracker

3D printed a massive nutcracker and dressed him up in Gryffindor attire, complete with a knitted scarf.

2. Hedwig Tree and Hogwarts Letters

3D printed a Hedwig snow owl topper and cute Hedwig ornaments for our snowy (flocked) Christmas tree. Bought a cute cage and luggage to place beside the tree with my smaller 3D printed Hedwig.

Made hundreds of Hogwarts letters to make sure all the wizards got their letter this year! 3D printed a Hogwarts stamp on my Halot One resin printer and stamped Hogwarts letters, Christmas card envelopes, and presents.

3. Sorting Hat Hogwarts House Tree

3D printed a sorting hat for the topper and airbrushed gold/black. Decorated the sorting hat tree with ornaments of the four Hogwarts houses.

4. Weasley Family Garden Gnome Tree

3D printed a garden gnome for our family tree. It was inspired by this quote from the Half-Blood Prince, “Fred, George, Harry, and Ron were the only ones who knew that the angel on top of the tree was actually a garden gnome that had bitten Fred on the ankle as he pulled up carrots for Christmas dinner. Stupefied, painted gold, stuffed into a miniature tutu and with small wings glued to its back, it glowered down at them all, the ugliest angel Harry had ever seen, with a large bald head like a potato and rather hairy feet.” I thought this was hilarious and perfect for the Christmas tree we adorn with all our sentimental, unmatching ornaments.

5. Mischief Managed Flying Car Tree

3D printed a Ford Anglia car, airbrushed, and added lights. Made the Whomping Willow using the aluminum foil technique we learned in our World Building class at Weta Workshop on our New Zealand trip. Used my Cricut Maker to iron on the “I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good” phrase onto ribbon. 3D printed a Marauder’s Map and put it at the base of the tree with a UV light to reveal the mischief when the light is turned on. 3D printed spells to hang all on the tree and surrounding garland.

6. Fluffy Tree

3D printed a Fluffy for a mini tree and airbrushed it brown/black. Added finishing touches for the tongue and eyes with acrylic paint. Added harps and other musical instruments to the tree along with a Sorcerer’s Stone for him to guard.

7. Phoenix Tree

3D printed a phoenix and airbrushed him red/gold to create a baby Fawkes topper for a mini tree. 3D printed a Sword of Gryffindor to hang behind it.

8. Potions Tree

Created a small potions tree with a Felix Felicis topper (3D printed in resin). Added vials and potion bottles (from our Halloween decor) as ornaments; filled some clear baubles and added labels to make a few new ones. Hung a 3D printed Mirror of Erised near this tree.

9. Triwizard Cup Tree

3D printed a Triwizard Cup to put on a small tree. This was the prize we gave away for the 2024 cookie exchange champion.

Goblet of Fire

Made a Goblet of Fire as the magical centerpiece of our Harry Potter Christmas. Voters casted their ballots in this during our 2024 cookie exchange. 3D printed a remix I created of the Goblet of Fire. Used Loctite Foam to add the extra stone. Used fabric/puff paint to add the ruins and crack on the top bowl. Airbrushed the flame with various shades of blue and inserted LED lights with a cyan gradual change effect. Painted the bowl/stand with various shades of acrylic brown with a foam brush for a faux stone look.

10-12 Outdoor Trees

We had 3 trees outside our breakfast room (our mini Great Hall). It snowed before I decorated them, and they looked just like the trio of Christmas trees in the Great Hall in the Goblet of Fire.

Bonus Mini Trees

I decorated a few mini trees for bonus Snitch, Always Doe, and Honeydukes trees.

Snow Covered Cabinets and Wands

Created a snow covered Hogwarts and Diagon Ally atop our cabinets. 3D printed Hagrid and Harry on the motorbike and Dumbledore Santa. Assembled several 3D puzzles and staggered them across the top. Setup an Ollivander’s wand table with all the wands I’ve 3D printed over the years.
