Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip Cosplay

For Halloween 2024, we brought an enchanted twist to a classic fairytale! I became an eternal Sleeping Beauty, awaiting true love’s kiss from my devoted, elderly Prince Phillip. Check out how we crafted my spooky Aurora look, transformed Phillip into a timeless charmer, and created eerie Maleficent props for a Haunted Castle themed party.

Prince Phillip Cape and Hat

There are few Prince Phillip costumes available so I sewed both the cape and hat. I purchased a sleeveless light brown shirt, and we already had the brown pants, black shirt, and black boots from our costume collection.

Prince Phillip Hair and Makeup

Here’s a tutorial on the hair and makeup for creating the aging Prince Phillip.

Sleeping Beauty Costume

I already had all the Sleeping Beauty props in my collection to piece together the haunted Aurora costume: short Aurora dress (frills hidden), witch’s spiderweb dress with shawl, Victorian steampunk skirt, and black velvet dance shoes. Added some stretchy spiderwebs for an extra spooky affect. I 3D printed the crown and necklace and spinning wheel.

Sleeping Beauty Hair and Makeup

My highlighted hair color is pretty similar to Aurora’s but not quite long enough so added a closely matching curly hair extension. Here’s a tutorial on the hair and makeup for creating the ever-enchanted Aurora.

Once Upon a Dream

We had to reenact the iconic Once Upon a Dream scene in the forest!

Maleficent

My sister dressed as Maleficent with my niece who dressed as Mal from Descendants for our group costume. 3D printed Maleficent’s staff, horns, and raven.
