๐Ÿ๏ธ Koh Nang Yuan: Hiking Thailandโ€™s Iconic Viewpoint & Exploring Paradise

Just off the coast of Koh Tao lies Koh Nang Yuan, a tropical paradise made up of three small islands connected by two stunning white sandbars! Famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and spectacular panoramic viewpoint, this was one of our most anticipated stops in Thailand. We arrived just before the island opened, raced to the summit to beat the crowds, and enjoyed breathtaking views almost entirely to ourselves! Afterward, we explored Nangyuan Island Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches we encountered during our entire Thailand adventure.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Itinerary: Morning Exploring Koh Nang Yuan

On our third day in Koh Tao (April 18, 2026), we visited Koh Nang Yuan during a five-hour private boat adventure arranged through View Point Resort. ๐Ÿ’ก Tips: Making the Most of Koh Nang Yuan

  • ๐ŸŒ… Arrive Early: The island opened at 10 AM during our visit. We arrived around 9:45 AM and headed straight to the viewpoint, becoming some of the first visitors to reach the summit!
  • ๐ŸŒŠ Check the Tides: Koh Nang Yuanโ€™s famous sandbars change with the tides and may become partially or completely submerged at high tide. Lower tides offer better views of the exposed sandbars.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Bring Cash: Admission was 250 THB per person during our April 2026 visit, separate from our private boat cost.
  • ๐Ÿšซ Leave Disposable Plastics & Drones Behind: Bags were checked upon arrival, and disposable plastic water bottles were not permitted. We had to finish our water and leave the bottles behind! Bring a reusable bottle instead.
  • ๐Ÿฅพ Wear Comfortable Shoes: The viewpoint trail includes boardwalks, stairs, and steep, rocky sections near the summit.
  • ๐Ÿ“ธ Prioritize the Viewpoint: Head uphill first to enjoy the iconic panorama before the crowds arrive, then explore the beaches afterward.
  • ๐Ÿšค Consider a Private Boat: Our private trip allowed us to arrive before opening and combine Koh Nang Yuan with other snorkeling destinations.

๐Ÿง— Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint: Racing the Crowds to Paradise

Beating the crowds to Koh Nang Yuanโ€™s iconic viewpoint was a major reason we booked a private snorkeling trip. We arrived around 9:45 AM and practically raced uphill when the island opened at 10 AM, becoming some of the first visitors to reach the summit! Having those breathtaking panoramic views almost entirely to ourselves for a few minutes made the early start worthwhile and was one of the highlights of our Koh Tao adventure.
