Koh Tao is famous for its spectacular coastal scenery, and Two View offers a chance to experience both sides of the island in one hike! Perched high above Sairee, this scenic hiking area features panoramic viewpoints overlooking Tanote Bay, Ao Leuk, and Koh Tao’s western coastline. We spent our final afternoon exploring rocky trails, photographing a surprisingly photogenic black cat, and soaking up golden-hour views before relaxing at Two View Bar & Restaurant for sunset. With relatively short hikes and incredible scenery, it was a memorable way to wrap up our Koh Tao adventures!
🗓️ Itinerary: Afternoon Hiking Two View
On our third day in Koh Tao (April 18, 2026), we spent the late afternoon exploring Two View after returning from our morning snorkeling tour. We arranged transportation through View Point Resort directly to Two View Bar & Restaurant, where we began our hike to both viewpoints overlooking the island’s eastern and western coastlines.

- 🥾 5:17 PM – Start Two View Hike (~60 min, ~0.84 mile round-trip, 100 THB/person including a drink)
- 🪨 5:35 PM – Follow the right-hand trail to Tanote Peak for views of Tanote Bay and Ao Leuk
- 🌅 6:00 PM – Explore West Coast Viewpoint between two large boulders during golden hour
- 🍹 6:20 PM – Return to Two View Bar & Restaurant for drinks and sunset (~6:31 PM)
- 🛻 Transfer to Sairee Beach / Lotus Beach Bar & Restaurant (🎟️ BOOK onsite at Two View Bar, allowing extra time for pickup)
💡 Tips: Making the Most of Two Views
- 🛻 Plan Your Transfers: Arrange transportation directly to Two View Bar & Restaurant to avoid the steep uphill climb from Sairee. Request your return pickup early, as we experienced a lengthy wait for a truck.
- 🥾 Wear Proper Shoes: The trails include steep, rocky, and uneven sections, so shoes with good traction are recommended.
- 💰 Bring Cash: We paid 100 THB per person for trail access, which included a drink at the bar.
- 🌅 Time Your Visit for Sunset: Explore both viewpoints in the late afternoon, then return to the bar for sunset.
- 🧭 Explore Both Directions: Follow the right-hand trail toward Tanote Peak and the left-hand route toward West Coast Viewpoint, where you’ll pass between large boulders.
- ☀️ Bring Water: Even short hikes can be tiring in Koh Tao’s tropical heat.
- 🥾 Explore More Hiking Trails: For a longer adventure, consider the roughly 2.8-mile round-trip route to Two View from Sairee listed on AllTrails. Nearby Fraggle Rock is another viewpoint worth exploring. We opted out of both due to limited time, but would have liked to do these.
🥾 Hiking Two View: Exploring Koh Tao’s East & West Coastlines
Starting from Two View Bar & Restaurant, we followed rocky jungle trails to viewpoints overlooking opposite sides of Koh Tao. The hike was relatively short, covering 0.84 mile with approximately 17 minutes of moving time, but we spent nearly an hour exploring the viewpoints, taking photos, and enjoying the scenery. The steep, uneven terrain added just enough adventure to make the spectacular views feel earned!

Time: 16:47 moving, 59:12 elapsed including viewpoint and photo stops
Distance: 0.84 mile total, including both viewpoints
Elevation Gain: 225 ft ascent, 226 ft descent
Difficulty: Moderate, with steep, rocky sections and uneven terrain
Terrain: Jungle trails, rocky paths, steep climbs, and exposed viewpoints
Directions: Start at Two View Bar & Restaurant (100 THB/person, including a drink) and follow the trail uphill. Take the right-hand trail toward Tanote Peak (~0.36 mile from the start) for panoramic views of Tanote Bay and Ao Leuk, then retrace your steps to the junction. Continue toward the West Coast Viewpoint (~0.63 mile cumulative distance), located between the two large boulders overlooking the western coastline. Return along the same trail to the bar for sunset.

🌴 Tanote Peak & Ao Leuk: Views of Koh Tao’s Eastern Coast
We began by following the right-hand trail toward Tanote Peak, where rocky overlooks revealed sweeping views of Koh Tao’s eastern coastline. From above, we admired the turquoise waters of Tanote Bay and Ao Leuk, surrounded by lush, jungle-covered hills. Several massive boulders offered opportunities to climb farther out for even more spectacular views, and I ventured all the way to the outermost rock! With steep drop-offs and little room for error, I felt much safer sitting than standing. Use extreme caution if exploring these exposed rocks, as a fall could be dangerous. It was an incredible perspective of the beautiful bays we’d explored earlier in our trip!

🌅 West Coast Viewpoint: A Purrfect Golden Hour
After exploring the eastern viewpoints, we headed in the opposite direction toward West Coast Viewpoint, squeezing between two massive boulders to reach an overlook above Sairee and Koh Tao’s western coastline. But the scenery wasn’t the only star! A gorgeous black cat seemed perfectly happy to pose for our cameras, giving us some of our favorite photos of the afternoon. Between our unexpected feline model and the warm golden-hour lighting, this viewpoint was especially memorable!

🍹 Two View Bar & Restaurant: Sunset with a View
We wrapped up our hike at Two View Bar & Restaurant, where our 100 THB entrance fee included a drink. After exploring both viewpoints, we settled into the loungers overlooking Koh Tao’s western coastline and watched the sky transform as the sun dipped toward the horizon. We even spotted another adorable cat, making it two feline encounters in one afternoon! With drinks in hand and a spectacular sunset unfolding before us, it was the perfect way to finish our final afternoon on the island!

📍 Getting There: Transportation & Trail Access
We arranged transportation through View Point Resort directly to Two View Bar & Restaurant, skipping the steep uphill approach from Sairee. After our hike and sunset drinks, we asked the restaurant to arrange transportation to Lotus Beach Bar & Restaurant on Sairee Beach. Unfortunately, the truck took quite a while to arrive, so we recommend arranging your return ride early, especially if you have dinner reservations or evening plans.
