This Halloween, we stepped into the wizarding world as two of our favorite Hogwarts professors â Minerva McGonagall and Remus Lupin â as part of a full family costume that also featured Professor Trelawney and a Ravenclaw student. Since both of our chosen professors transform into animals, I combined 3D printing, LEDs, and a touch of transfiguration magic to create a glowing green-eyed cat mask for McGonagall and a fierce werewolf mask for Lupin, capturing their Animagus and full-moon transformations.

đȘ Professor Transformation
Our duo transformation brought a little Hogwarts magic to life â the moment when McGonagallâs silver tabby crosses paths with Lupinâs werewolf under the full moon. From glowing eyes to swirling robes, our 3D-printed masks and handcrafted details turned a simple costume into a spellbinding display of transfiguration and transformation.

đ§ââïž Professor Lupin
Professor Lupinâs cosplay centered on duality â the gentle Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and the tormented werewolf beneath. We found his suit at Goodwill and paired it with a vest, tie, and collared shirt we already had on hand to complete Professor Lupinâs look. His 3D-printed wand was already part of my collection â the perfect finishing touch for the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
đș Werewolf Mask
I 3D printed a wolf mask, wiring it with both yellow and red LEDs to shift from warmth to menace depending on the light.
đ« Transformation
Watch as Professor Lupinâs gentle kindness fades beneath the light of the full moon, revealing his haunting werewolf form. He also shows his true character â offering Harry a comforting piece of chocolate after the terror of the Dementors.
đ§ââïž Professor McGonagall
For McGonagall, I focused on both elegance and transformation â creating her classic look from the Sorcererâs Stone along with her silver tabby Animagus. The effect felt straight out of the Hogwarts halls, capturing the moment between feline and formidable witch. Her classic look came together with a purchased robe and hat, paired with a black turtleneck and dress already in my collection. To give the hat McGonagallâs signature flair, I hand-sewed the top of the hat to angle it and adorned it with elegant pheasant feathers. I already had several of her 3D-printed wands in my collection and upgraded hers this year to a version with the crystal on the end. The final touch â a 3D printed brooch â completed the look with just the right bit of transfiguration-worthy detail. A tightly pinned bun and subtly aged makeup completed the look, striking the perfect balance of wisdom, elegance, and Transfiguration classroom authority.
đ± Cat Mask
I 3D printed and finished my McGonagall cat mask â complete with custom-wired green LED eyes for that magical glow.
đ Transfiguration
Watch as Professor McGonagallâs silver tabby Animagus transforms into the Transfiguration professor herself â complete with robes, glasses and a bit of magic in the air.

In this video, I show how I styled Professor McGonagallâs signature swept bun and aged makeup look â perfect for bringing the stern transfiguration professor to life.

Professor McGonagall sorted 3D printed toys to all the young witches and wizards for Halloween â a few highlights included wands, chocolate frogs, house ties, and nifflers.
