Bluesmas

It was a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas this year! In honor of the Blues’ Stanley Cup victory, we went Blues this holiday season as we decked our house in the Blue note and Gloria to celebrate a very special Bluesmas! “Angels We Have Heard on High” proclaimed Gloria throughout our house as I repurposed old hymnal music into decorative art. Louie rode in the sleigh this year and played Gloria all the way!

The Stanley Cup

A Bluesmas wouldn’t be fit without a Stanley Cup! made a special version with the commemorative Bud Light cans.

The Tree

The angel was heard high atop our tree proclaiming Gloria! She even had “Angels We Have Heard on High” sheet music decoupaged to her skirt. I made several decoupage ornaments which featured Gloria and Joy! Our new Stanley Cup ornament was featured next to the Gloria ornament! The family painted salt dough Blues ornaments, which were the final touch.

Blues Wreath

I made a special Stanley Cup wreath this year. Check out my previous blog for instructions and other Blues wreaths I’ve created over the years.

Louie’s Sled

I decoupaged “Angels We Have Heard on High” onto a sled for Louis to ride while playing Gloria!

Mantle

The mantle featured Blues notes made with my Cricut.

Centerpieces / Bottle Art

Utilizing my Cricut and hymnal music sheets, I emblazoned the Blue note and Gloria onto everything. I utilized old wine bottles, Bud Light Blues commemorative bottles, candles, and coasters. I decoupaged hymnal music to many of them and cut out Gloria & the Blue note from vinyl with my Cricut. For the hymnal trees, I cut out tree shapes from the sheet music, folded them like fans, threaded the paper through a skewer, and inserted the skewer into trunk slivers from our previous Christmas trees.

Gloria Wall Signs

With my Cricut, I cutout Gloria and trees from “Angels We Have Heard on High” hymnal sheets and decoupaged them onto old frames / boards that I painted royal blue. I painted the frames gold or silver.

Cookie Exchange

For our annual cookie exchange, I created custom gifts (apron and potholders) with my Cricut. The Best All-Around apron featured a Stanley Cup in shimmering silver. I made bluey butter cookies, which is a play on gooey butter cookies and the Blues and were perfect for Bluesmas in STL 🙂
