I crafted this tropical cake for the wedding reception of my two college buddies. The monkey toppers were made from chocolate fondant and the flowers from gum paste.

Cake
I utilized white chocolate molding fondant to cover the cake and Wilton blue color mist food spray for the pretty blue portions. I used real shells that I sanitized. The cake layers included banana, mandarin orange, and white with pineapple filling. I piped buttercream pearls around the edges.
Monkey Toppers
I crafted the monkeys out of chocolate fondant. They tasted just like tootsie rolls!
Tropical Lilies
I made the tropical lilies out of gum paste and hand painted them with purple gel paste diluted with vodka.
